A comparative study on the fund obtained by a local authority in New Zealand from 2012 till present and its projection for the next year is depicted in the given line graph.

Overall, it is clear that except from grants and subsidies, the local authorities received handsome income and the situation is expected to continue.

As per the graph, the prominent sources of income were rates revenue and user charges and this is expected to grow further. In 2012, rates revenue accounted for about $1400 million, which was approximately $400 million more than user charges. At present, these are seen inclined to around $2300 and $2000 million respectively, and are estimated to rise slightly the coming year.

However, the other two sources of income are seen fluctuating. In 2012, the finance from grants and subsidies stood at around $400 million, whereas the revenue from borrowings was almost its double. The gap between these two sources widened in the next couple of years, and by another two years, funds obtained from the former source swelled by overtaking the latter( approximately $700 million ). However, the trend came back to the previous within a year, and by 2022 the figures are set to settle at $500 and $800 respectively.
