The popularity of computers in the field of education is advancing these days compared to the past. A controversy exists in its use in this field as some feel it is highly acceptable, while others feel the opposite. Both these opposing views have to be analysed thoroughly before framing a logical conclusion.

On the one hand, the former group feels that it not only facilitates effective teaching, but also enhances the learning process. To be clearer, the course providers can present the matter of study in a more appealing way than they used to deliver in the past in traditional classrooms. For example, the use of motion pictures including 3D animations and high quality audio systems make the presentations attractive to even a below average learner. At the same time, the learners find it advantageous when they can explore vast amount of information online besides what they have learned, and this enhances their knowledge to the next level.

On the other hand, critics feel that the increasing influence of computers in the field of education would alter the system adversely. They feel the existing system of education is well-designed by experts after numerous researches. This includes the type of course materials, the way which they should be taught, the duration of teaching and the time allotted for evaluations like projects and exams. The use of computer to a certain extent would definitely assist the process of effective learning, but they do suspect it does backstab when it is overused. If this happens, the ultimate result is ineffective learning such as deviation or extension in the course.

After analysing both these views in detail, I do feel the increasing use of computers in the field of education would definitely bring positive changes. However, the use should be systematic and appropriate in order to avoid ineffective learning.
