Crime rates will fall as advances in technology make it easier to detect and prevent crimes. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

MODEL ANSWER>>>

It is predicted that technology is moving to its next level, and would help man to detect and check crimes in future easier. When some argue that this results in a decline in the crime rate, I also have to be optimistic, despite the existence of some challenges.

The cardinal reason for my agreement is because of the fact that technology has already made tremendous progress in the field of crime detection and prevention. The contributions of technology are unparalleled at present in these fields. For example, the use of surveillance cameras and biometric security systems has led to a plunge in the crimes, which were so common in the past. Similarly, the use of high-end internet security systems is assisting a greater proportion of internet users to be secure in the cyber world.

Turning to the future, there is no doubt that technology will advance further much beyond our expectations. Hence, it is anticipated that the field of crime research, including its analysis, spread and prevention would also be upgraded to the next level. One such expected progress is the deployment of Artificial Intelligence in detecting and preventing crimes. By doing this, virtual identification of the wrong intentions and socially unaccepted behaviours can be made easily, and thereby appropriate preventive actions can be adopted.

However, the main challenge here is that technology is least likely to change the behaviour of a person. Even though it can effectively identify the wrong intensions, preventing crime completely would remain a big challenge as crime has an inseparable relation with the basic behaviour of a person.

To conclude, there is no doubt that the future technology can slow down the pace of crime rate considerably, however eradicating it from the society is hardly expected as it has to do something with human psychology.
