MODEL ANSWER:

Energy demand is higher than ever before as the world is facing a deficit in the existing energy sources and no best effective alternative is yet to be discovered. Despite warnings from scientists, today’s people fail to cut down their surplus energy use. There are two major causes which contribute to this and to promote energy saving among them is still a big question.

The predominant cause of this is the failure of exploring the best energy saving techniques. To be precise, the technology on the one side has an ineffective solution in providing people with the most effective energy saving gadgets. For example, the best air conditioner in the market consumes over 500 units of electricity per annum, which can be a considerable share in the electricity bill of its customer. On the other hand, the customers fail to use the best energy saving gadgets in their home as they are not generally cost-effective. For example, a good energy saving refrigerator may be expensive and this forces people to purchase less-effective energy saving equipment. Another cause is the ever-increasing energy demands in a person’s daily life. In the past, there was less demand for energy. However, today’s generation uses more energy as they focus on factors such as comfort, convenience and entertainment rather than meeting just their daily needs. This can be often seen in luxury villas and big apartments, where we can see ‘energy extravaganza’.

Turning to the problem-solving side, there should be the introduction and usage of the best-energy saving households. People should also feel that they need to save the energy for their future generation. As long as this is not happening, preventing the over-usage of energy remains a question.
