There are differences in opinion whether the modern music has positive or negative impact on the youth. Both these views are critically analysed in this essay along with an attempt to frame a rational conclusion.

As per those who think it has a positive impact, modern music is one of the widely accepted forms of entertainments. It helps the youth of today to get absorbed in a simple world of music, and can release their stress and tensions of everyday life. Apart from entertaining and stress-busting effect, it gives a sort of identity to the young population, which is unique from those traditional tastes of music like rock and jazz. Overall, it is clear that the youth really enjoys the modern music.

By contrast, others feel that modern music cannot be considered as harmless, as they see some adverse effects on this. The worst among those is the addiction. To be precise, some of the modern music takes its audiences to a state of ecstasy, and usually many young people are seen enjoying it with drugs and alcohol. In fact one can say this negatively affects the character of this population, and make them anti-socials. It is also argued that the lyrics of these songs spread bad language among the youngsters.

After analysing both views in detail, I feel that every youth should accept new styles of music either just as a form of entertainment or as a way to relax. However, if its influence goes beyond the boundaries, it counteracts.
