As the threat to wildlife is increasingly at risk, there are some who argue that every single wild animal is to be protected, whereas others feel it is needed only for some. Both the arguments are valid, and hence a detailed discussion is needed before framing a logical conclusion.

Those who have the former view think that, at their habitat, it is nearly impossible to have a choice of preference of wildlife protection. This is because all these animals are a part of a particular eco-system and a part of a specific food chain. They live interpedently, and this hardly enables wildlife protection specific to any particular species. The second major reason behind this argument is that there should be equilibrium in the numbers of wild animals. To be precise, neglecting the protection of some animals would lead the alterations in their proportions, which ultimately results in problems like wildlife presence in human inhabited areas, possessing threats to human life or property.

However, the latter group argues that only endangered species need to be identified and protected, and this can be done by means of isolating them in zoos or natural parks. They recommend this pointing at the past incidences of wildlife species’ extinction. It is the responsibility of humans to prevent this to happen in future. Therefore, they believe only such species should be located, monitored and protected. They also feel that other animals should be left free in their natural habitat as they possess lesser threat from poaching and related harms. Any sorts of human intervention at their natural habitat may interfere with their natural way of living, including physical, mental and reproductive well-being.
