The advancements made in the field of communication by the gadgets such as smart phones and tablets are seen with an eye of suspicion by many. I think the progress made by these devices in the field of information exchange far outweigh their disadvantages.

The prime reason behind my view is because of the convenience these devices offer to their users. In the past, people had fixed line telephones, which restricted the telephone usage to limited areas. This non-portability has made it difficult for many to communicate freely, in a secure environment. With phones became mobile, they became more popular and people started personalizing them. They can now make an audio call or a video call from their present locations to the distant ends of the world without any major difficulty.

The next highlight is the integration of features in these devices. Apart from the primary function: making calls, smart phone companies started adding unique features to their products such as high definition cameras, GPS and business worksheets, to name but a few. The accessibility to high-speed internet is another highlight. When people started getting all these features in one particular device, these devices became their favourite gadgets.

However, there are people who criticize the use of these types of gadgets pointing at its power of addiction. As individuals began to spend a considerable proportion of time with these products, their real life socialization time declined sharply. This ranged from community interactions to close personal relations in the family. Another drawback they point at is the overdependence, which usually results in poor intellectuality.

To conclude, I admit there are potentials dangers in using these advanced equipment . However, I think, if properly used, these gadgets can be the most beneficial things a man can have in this modern world.
