Compared to the past, the amount of rubbish which is seen produced every day is increasing in a significant way. There are two main reasons for this, and if the respective authorities take timely and appropriate actions, this crisis can be solved.

Of the two major reasons, the first is the surplus production. To be precise, many manufacturing companies are profit-motive and they want their products to be sold to a wider range of customers than they did in the past. The result is the excess amount of production, higher than what the demand is. The second reason behind this is the increasing trend of consumerism. Shopping is a new generation hobby, without which they feel themselves incomplete. Through advertisements and other product promotion techniques, the marketing companies broaden the channel from manufacturers to the end customer. The result is the purchase of frivolous products, which soon become litter.

The primary solution to this problem is not treating the rubbish, but to prevent the occurrence of such bulk amount of wastes. Governments should enforce laws to maintain a near equilibrium between the demand of a product and its production, unless it is a basic necessity. Advertisement companies should be watched for any deceptive adverts, which persuade customers to spend money on worthless or non-durable items.

To conclude, I feel the factors behind the increasing rubbish are mainly commercial, and if there are definitive objectives from the governments to solve these issues, which should start from the root level, the problem can be mitigated faster.
