People often make arguments based on the rights of animals, in which, some think that animals can be used for human needs, while others believe that the animal rights are to be protected. Both these views have their own significance and have to be discussed thoroughly before framing a logical conclusion.

At the one side of the argument, some think that animals have their own rights and should be protected. They say that the use of animals for the needs of humans depicts the civilized man’s inhumane nature. Many animals are being ill-treated by humans for sports, festivals and circuses, to name but a few. By these ways, animals are forced to live somewhere other than their natural habitats, which may create an imbalance in their natural living pattern such as finding food, reproduction et cetera. This happens even in case of a tamed or a domestic animal, and so, they strongly recommend a stringent animal protection act.

At the other side of the argument, people who support that animals can be used for the human needs project the extent of difficulty humans are expected to face for their survival once they cease using animals or their products. For example, animal-source foods such as meat, dairy products and poultry contain higher quantities and more balanced proportions of amino acids relative to human tissues compared with plant- source foods. They add, most of the animal products such as leather and woolen clothing cannot be replaced effectively even if newer alternatives are available. No wonder they firmly support the use of animals or their products.

After analyzing both these views in detail, I think, within a circle of a clear animal protection act, formulated by the respective governments, animals can be used for human needs.
