There is no doubt that humans have enhanced their sociability than ever before. However, the role of technology in that is a relevant question. As there are opposing views on this, which are significant and hence, they have to be analysed in detail before framing a logical conclusion.
On the one hand,some people think the increasing popularity of social media applications enhances the sociability of modern man and they project the spontaneous social interaction of such users.They point that the affordability and convenience of such modes of communication which make people closer than ever before. Similarly, newer, sophisticated technologies with enhanced features such as ‘google translator’ and ‘grammarly’ tend to help today’s generation to a great extent to expand their social relationships. The introduction of such ultra-modern gadgets has enabled modern man to explore new methods of socializing, making the process more enthusiastic.
Conversely, those who oppose the former view highlight a fragile social relations which have become the identity of modern society. To be precise, they feel most of the technologically-assisted social relationships evoke pseudo emotions, and hence hide many potential dangers. There are several instances of social media deceptions and these have been making many such ‘victims’ depressed and some often opt for the extreme step: suicide. They also warn against the shrinkage of time modern man spend with his close acquaintances owing to the excessive time they spend with the social media networks.
To conclude, though modern technology assists human to broaden their social circle. I think these are mostly virtual in nature.
