The creation of a successful teacher becomes a debatable question when some believe completion of teaching-related courses is more than enough for this; whereas others think an excellent teacher can be hardly made only by pursuing a course. Both the views have their own gravity, and hence a detailed discussion is necessary before framing a rational conclusion.

On the one hand, those who have the former view state that the qualifying courses designed for teachers involve both theoretical and practical approach of both teaching and learning processes. To be clear, the pedagogical studies involving in those courses allow those involved in this to learn how to simplify the concept and explain it to their clients. The components of these courses are usually compiled by experts, those who have done innumerable researches on diverse topics related to systematic teaching as well as learning. Therefore, it is almost clear that a person who completes these courses successfully can easily become a teacher.

On the other hand, others feel that such courses alone cannot mold a gifted teacher. This is because they consider some qualities such as patience and understanding somewhat more important than these courses. For example, a good teacher should listen and observe her students patiently simultaneously when she teaches. This allows her to modify her pattern of teaching if needed as the teaching progresses. Some teachers can perceive their student’s potentials very effectively, and motivate them to achieve better. Similarly, she can make out their weaknesses too, and can compensate those. These skills are usually innate or acquired through experience, and rarely happen in case of a teacher who completed a training course.

After analyzing both these views, although a teaching certificate equips almost anyone to teach, I believe, in most cases, this alone would not prove most effective.
