In a multi-cultural society, it is common to see differences in the way which people give value to professions. This can be persons from the field of art, science or other fields such as health and education. Of these, I think science professionals deserve more dignity.

The primary reason behind my preference is because of the invaluable contributions these professionals had given to the mankind. To be precise, it is when the science and mathematics gained importance, many superstitions and myths got vanished. The invention of antibiotics and polio vaccines has saved the lives of many. The field still has relevance as the whole world heavily relies on them for solving the present pandemic situation, which is caused by the corona virus.

In a similar way, one should highly revere the contributions of mathematicians too. Calculations combined with scientific researches have made it possible for man to even land in the Mars and explore the possibility of life there. Meteorological predictions alert people to be vigilant against natural calamities and this can be seen as another example.

At the same time, other professionals such as authors and artists too play a significant role in the society. They entertain and relax the minds of a sizeable proportion of people today. As they are more visible in the society, more people value them. The same is the case of health professionals and educationalists. However, weighing the contributions made, I think one should value scientists and mathematicians more.

To conclude, even though literary authors, artists and other professionals play their own roles in the society which cannot be substituted, I feel the progresses which are made in science and mathematics should be recognized more.
