MODEL ANSWER:

Diverse opinions exist when the subject of History is taken into account in the priority list of a school curriculum. When some places it on the top of the list, others feel that its position should be lowered under subjects like Science and Technology. This controversy should be addressed thoroughly before a logical conclusion is framed.

On the one hand, those who consider History as a vital subject in the school curriculum state that it is the basis of every subject, and without knowing about the history of a subject, the learning process becomes incomplete. For example, those who study Economics can understand the elementary principles of it easily only when they know Adam Smith, its founder, and the contributions he made to the subject. They also feel that History has a link that interconnects the subjects. This means most subjects in the curriculum co-exist because of History. So, it definitely adds a great deal of knowledge in the student.

On the other hand, there are people who think that History should be sequenced below subjects such as Science and Technology. This is because they believe in the future prospects of such subjects. They focus on the very frequent developments in such fields, compared to History’s. They also believe that very few students can prosper in their future endeavors, when they focus on the study of the past. They may find themselves working in archaeological fields or in schools and colleges. Hence, they think, a student at school should absorb subjects like Science and Technology more seriously than History.

After analyzing both views in detail, though History will keep reminding school students of their roots, Science and Technology would be more beneficial for them, and if researched in detail, it can lead to new discoveries that can be useful to the present and future generations.
