Some people think that a lot of scientific research which is done today is just a waste of time and money. Do what extent do you agree with the statement? Why?

There have been serious questions regarding the effectiveness of scientific researches. It is often argued that numerous researches which are being done today fetch no results, and hence it is just a waste of time and money. Despite some exceptions, I tend not to believe in the same way.

The fundamental reason why I support the contemporary researches is because they are designed in such a way that they are systematic and professional. It is to be understood that most researches which are carried out today back up either successful or partly successful attempts which were done in the past. This enables the researchers to minimize errors, and save their resources like time and investment.

Another reason why I oppose the view is because most of the researches are concerned with the challenges which humans face or tend to face, and some are conducted to enhance the standard of living. One such example is the ongoing research on AIDS vaccine. Researches are being done to minimize the pollution levels and to enhance recycling of non-biodegradable products. Even though, many unsuccessful attempts are expected, which exhaust much effort, time and money, I believe they would win ultimately.

I need to admit that in certain circumstances, many researches are done on topics which are currently irrelevant. Finding whether there is life in Pluto or on other parts of the universe is an example of this. I feel these can be done sometime later.

To conclude, though there may be instances in which some scientific researches tend to be worthless, I feel in most cases this is not true.
