MODEL ANSWER:

Various stages involved in the recycling process of aluminum cans are picturized in the given diagram.

The process begins with the collection of used aluminum cans and ends with the sale of recycled cans.

The used cans are collected from various destinations. The collected used cans are then transported via logistic services to the recycling centre. The next process is cleaning. Here, all the impurities are removed from the cans and sorted it based on the size and measurements.

Subsequently, these cans are shred and compressed in a machine. After that, the compressed cans are heated to an appropriate temperature and melted into liquid form. The melted aluminum is rolled into thin aluminium sheets of around 2.5 to 6 thickness depending on the usage. These rolls are shaped into aluminium cans in factories and these recycled products are finally sold.

In the UK, almost 74% of all cans are recycled.
