MODEL ANSWER:

The line graphs show the information about employment scenario in Freedonia by gender in six different employment sectors in 1975 and 1995.

At a glance, it is apparent that men dominated the job markets in both years, but it can be noted that women made progress in the given period.

In 1975, nearly 75% of finance sector employees (around 45,000) and almost half of the employees in the manufacturing industry were men (approximately 65,000). However, women appeared to be competing shoulder to shoulder against their male counterpart in the communication sector. The disparity in the employee number was between 1500 and 2000 in other sectors (public, private, wholesale and retail sectors).

However, situations changed in 1995, when women participation in wholesale and retail sector surpassed the men’s to reach around 80,000. The communication sector also saw a similar surge, when the numbers doubled to reach around 55,000. In the finance sector, the female job participation went up to reach almost the same as the male’s. They also made their professional involvement wider in the public sector (defense), whereas in the other sectors, the situations remained the same.
