Overall, it is clear that the ownership of most households exhibited an increase over the given period.

As per the table, television and refrigerator were comparatively more preferred gadgets. When the rate of television ownership grew from 93 to 96, the growth was from 73 to 94 for the latter.

The preference to vacuum cleaner was also very similar, which ranged from 87 and 95% between 1972 and 1982. There was also an increase in the proportion of the British households who owned a washing machine, and this ranged from 66 in 1972 to 80 in 1983.

Even though the popularity of telephone and central heating was less in the beginning, by 1983 a significant increase is noted in their ownership. From just 42%, the rate of telephone users hiked to 77, whereas there was a 27% growth in the rate of and central heating users in Britain from just 37 in1972.
