In most of the societies, the role of mother and father differs. What are the causes of this difference? What will be the parental roles in future?

REPORTED ON 08 JANUARY 2022

There have been tremendous changes in the way which fathers take care of their children when compared to their mothers. This can be attributed mainly to the changing life-styles, and the roles of the parents would change further in future.

People’s life-style has changed in a great way in the last few decades, and this can be seen as a crucial reason for this transformation of job delegation. To be precise, in the past, the primary responsibilities of women were child-rearing and looking after the household chores. As the years advanced, the size of the families has become smaller, and this increased the financial liabilities on each family. Therefore, both parents had to work, making it mandatory to share the responsibilities each other.

Another probable cause behind this is the changing social attitudes towards women. The society has gained more gender-equality these days when compared to the past, which allowed more women to work in key positions like company heads.

Having assessed the reasons behind the change, it is quite rational to analyse what would happen in future. The most anticipated change is that the fulfilment of gender equality. This means, there would not be any change in the roles of either the father or mother in taking care of their children. More societies are expected to become liberal in nature with the growing influence of globalization.

To conclude, it is clear that the main reason why the role of fathers and mothers change as parents is because of the change in life-style. This is expected to change further in near future, when both genders would have equal roles.
