Very often man is accused to be responsible for the extinction of rare species of animals and loss of bio-diversity. The root cause of this appears to be the seamless desires of humans. As the intensity of this damage is severe, there should be stringent actions to address this issue.
When assessing the fundamental causes in detail, these two burning environmental crises occur mostly as a result of irrational human activities. In the past, man could easily understand the nature and lived a life which was most suited to the ecosystem. However, when he became more civilized, his needs and desires soared and he started belittling the importance of nature conservation. Extensive deforestation, mining and irrational fishing are some of the very few examples of this. In other words, he started perceiving that development and environmental conservation would not go hand-in-hand. I have to admit that in rare occasions, natural calamities like flood and earthquake caused these damages.
It is to be understood that the consequences of these illogical human activities on the nature is severe as evidenced by just 30% forest area left unaltered. Many animal and plant species had suffered extinction, and the present generation are not even aware such species once existed on earth. Even though there are legislations against illegal human activities which alter the ecosystem, a stronger framework of laws and their effective implementation are the practical solutions which can be suggested. A sustainable pace of development can back up this.
To conclude, selfishness of man is found to be the key reason behind the loss of bio-diversity, and the issue can be addressed effectively by foul-proof legislations and sustainable development.
