Unlike the past, most people, irrespective of gender spend too much money on beauty care. The primary reason behind this might be the increasing urge of awareness regarding beauty. Some other reasons behind this along with its possible effects are discussed in this essay.
The fundamental reason behind why people spend an exorbitant sum on these products is because of the belief that a perfect outward appearance can enhance a person’s personality. Most advertising companies focus on trending fashion, which they make people believe is an essential factor which reflects the advanced civilised social status. Gents and ladies clothing and cosmetics are some of the most demanded items on the stores at present and companies earn a huge profit from their sales.
There exist some more factors behind this trend. Among those, the first is fashion. Both the print and visual media now highlight celebrity fashion, which make many people; especially the youngsters blindly imitate their favourite stars. Another reason is psychological. Today’s people can hardly accept the older stages of development, and they try to maintain in their desired shape and appearance making use of the available cosmetics and outfits.
When we analyse the results of this trend, for most people, it does no harm because they believe that their confidence is boosted despite a high spending. However, in some cases, these products can have the opposite results, as there occurred cases of depression and even suicide as a consequence.
To conclude, though there are many reasons behind this type of spending on beauty products, the primary reason is the increasing curiosity and awareness regarding beauty. It is also clear that it has both positive and negative results.
