Some people say that it is possible to tell a lot about a person’s culture and character from their choice of clothes.

Do you agree or disagree?

 REPORTED IN OCTOBER, 2021

It is widely believed that a person’s choice of clothes reflects his culture and character. In my opinion, this is true to a great extent. However, there exist situations in which this analysis cannot be done.

The first reason why I believe so is because most people consider clothing outfits as the way they want to expose themselves to others. This is well-evident by the difference in the choice of clothes they wear at homes and outside the homes. Naturally, they do have a superior sense of clothes’ selection when they go outside, especially for a party. While some select socially acceptable clothes which reflect their culture, others go for clothes which are eccentric in nature.

The second reason behind my agreement is that many passively express their character by their dressing sense. For example, there are people who are so particular in selecting formal dresses to wear, and they are more conscious to wear those in the most appropriate way. This dressing sense reflects their self-discipline and vigilance. On the other hand, there are people who do not care about such things, and mostly they are found more social and liberal in nature.

However, there are limitations in making out the character and culture of a person by his dressing style if you are meeting the person the first time. There are other influential factors like climate and fashion which make it difficult.

To conclude, it is clear that provided that a person has an established habit of selection of clothes; it is possible to identify his culture and character. However, it is difficult in case of an unfamiliar person or in case of exceptional situations.
