MODEL ANSWER>>>

There are a growing number of people who keep pets in the modern society, and this includes birds, fish and animals. However, there are conflicting opinions whether or not children benefit from it. Both the opposing arguments have some significance, and so a thorough discussion is needed before framing a logical conclusion.

On the one hand, those who hold the former view think that being with pets helps a child to nurture his emotional well-being. Most children are in a state of emotional stress these days, as in majority of their families, both parents work, and they hardly find some quality time with their children. The result is the addiction to other sorts of entertainment media such as TV, computer and smart phones. However, when there are pets at home, children naturally find some time to be with them, feed them and care them. This primarily creates the base of a sound emotional health. Responsibility can also be seen at higher levels among these children.

On the other hand, the second group criticize this by pointing that it is dangerous and unhealthy. They believe that most children are not trained enough in pet-keeping techniques. This often creates situations in which they are attacked. For instance, there are several cases of child casualties which result from such attacks including dog and cat bites. The second problem is that the inability of children to maintain a healthy co-existence with these pets. The fur of animals like cats, mites from dogs and flu from birds are major factors which put the health of a child who cares them at high risk.

After analysing both these views in detail, I think though pet-keeping gives emotional happiness to children, it is potentially dangerous and unhealthy, if not done under proper supervision.
