Some people think that outdoor activities are more beneficial for children’s development than playing computer games. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Write at least 250 words.

It is argued by some that outdoor activities fetch more benefits for children than engaging themselves playing computer games. Not many can oppose this view and so do I.

The predominant reason behind my agreement is because outdoors activities ensure both physical and mental development of a child. To be precise, it is inevitable for a child to be physically agile and mentally active all through his stages of growth and development. It is common to see that many modern children are prone to emotional disturbances and lifestyle diseases like obesity, diabetes et cetera,  and this can be prevented to a great extent when they are encouraged to be outdoors.

The second major benefit of outdoor activities is that it provides ample opportunity for children to communicate and build the socializing skills. To be clearer, most outdoor activities involve multiple members, which make it very essential for the participants to communicate in between. These skills are very vital in the future of every child since the world is becoming more globalized.

By contrast, computer games offer children a higher level of entertainment at a more convenient mode. This is because most of these games are technologically advanced and can be played any time, at anywhere with or without the participation of a large number of children.

To conclude, though computer games offer visible benefits in this present era, in a situation when most children are confined inside their homes playing outdoor activities bring more potential benefits to children of today.
