Some people today believe that the world’s increase in population is unsustainable and will eventually lead to a global crisis. Other people believe that world population increase is necessary and beneficial as it creates the growth of the world’s economy and society.

Discuss both these views and give your opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own experience or knowledge. Write at least 250 words.

While some argue surging population can create catastrophes, others perceive it may act positively for both the societies and the whole world. Analyzing the present scenario, if this growth is not arrested, it would push humanity to further crises.

The reason why some people believe favour population growth is because they feel that this would create a favorable platform for the overall development of global economy and individual societies.  To be clearer, when there is an increase in the number of people, the global workforce would get stronger, and this in turn would take the productivity to the next level.  There would be more skilled professionals like doctors, engineers and teachers in each society, and this would not only serve the residents of the society but also hike their economic status.

Those who criticize the population explosion assume the increased irrational human activities not only causes damage to the environment, but also to the human existence. For example, when population swells, the need of exploiting the nature becomes more inevitable, and this is not just an environmental concern. The future generation is going to see utter scarcity of resources if the nature is exploited relentlessly.  Issues like lack of living space, food scarcity, increased crime and morbidity are just a few issues population hike can cause.

In my opinion, exploding population is to be seen as a serious concern in the recent future, and this is going to reflect in almost every field of human life.

To conclude, though nations and societies can gain from population growth in some way, I feel the drawbacks it is going to present the humanity would overshadow such merits.
