The chart below shows the percentage of whole world population in four countries from 1950, with projections till 2050. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

The contributions to the global population share by four countries from 1950 till 2000, and its estimation till 2050 are depicted in the given bar chart.

In general, when the population is seen declined and is projected to be the same in all the other given countries other than India, whereas in India, the trend is opposite.

As per the chart, in 1950, the most contribution of the world’s population was China’s. More than a quarter of the global population in this year was Chinese. The demographic shares of India, the USA and Japan were 15, 10 and 5 respectively. In 2000, the volume of people from China, the USA and Japan to the global share declined by about 2 to 3%, whereas in India, it rose by around 4%.

When India is anticipated to contribute another 2% to the total world population by 2050, the shares of China and Japan is expected to drop by 5 and 1 respectively. However, the USA is projected to contribute the same proportion to the global population share in 2050, when compared to what it was in 2000 (8%).
