The given table exhibits the popularity of bus as a public transport system in the UK between 2009 and 2011.

It is clear that when the preference of this mode of transport increased for study, day tour and visiting friends, people showed less interest to use it for shopping and commuting to work over time.

As shown in the table, most people in the UK chose bus for shopping in all the three years from 2009. In 2009, 65% went shopping by bus. However, this popularity is seen sliding down in the next two years when it went down to 56% and 51% respectively. A decline is also seen in case of the rate of bus commuters who preferred it to go to work. From 5% in 2009, it became 2% in 2010, and there were none who depended on bus for this purpose in 2011.

There was in increasing proportion of UK residents who got into bus to visit their friends. In 2009 and 2010, this was 19%, which grew to 23% in 2011. In 2009, 4% opted bus travel to study and 7% for a day tour. In th next two years, this rose to 9% and 12% respectively.
