SAMPLE ANSWER:

It has been a debate for years whether or not to use nuclear technology for various human needs. Owing to the increasing demands of humans, I think nuclear technology has a significant role today, and is expected to gain more popularity in future.

The first reason why I support nuclear technology is that it is the cheapest and the most productive form of energy in the current situation. To be precise, the conventional sources of energy are depleting in an unparalleled way, and humans have not yet found the best alternative for such fuels. As the energy demand of the man is rocketing, the best alternative which is tangible today is none other than the nuclear technology. Even though the capital for the initiation of power from nuclear modes is exorbitant, it can deliver power to man at a nominal rate for a longer span of time.

Not only in the power generation field, nuclear technology has made a crucial leap in the field of health, when it has proven very successful in case of treatment of terminal diseases such as cancer. To make it more clear, radiation technology is currently used both in diagnosis and treatment of diseases and is exploring new possibilities. Another significant area where it is used is in the field of defense. For instance, a country which has a nuclear weapon mostly stands safe even if its rival countries are superior in the other areas.

However, this technology is not free from criticism as it always possesses a threat to a multitude of human life in a split of a second. The incidents happened in Chernobyl and Fukushima are pertinent examples for this.

To conclude, despite some threats which cannot be taken as ‘easy’, nuclear technology is to be seen as a real boon to mankind now and in the future.
