Traffic and housing problems could be solved by moving large companies, factories and their employees to the countryside. Do you agree or disagree?

REPORTED ON 09 APRIL, 2022 (PEN AND PAPER TEST, AFTERNOON SESSION, INDIA)

There exists a suggestion that issues related to travel and accommodation can be solved when large companies, factories and their employees can be relocated to countryside from urban centres. I cannot agree to the suggestion until the entire necessary infrastructure is created in the villages.

Despite the fact that large companies and factories bear a great responsibility of causing traffic and accommodation issues in cities, when these establishments along with their workforce are moved outside towards the villages, the ultimate result would not be as fruitful as we think. To explain it further, when an employee of a factory stays near his firm, he might not always be able to accommodate his family members. And if he stays with his family, they have to move into the cities frequently for various purposes like shopping, healthcare and education. It is clear that, whatever the situation may be, issues regarding travel or accommodation prevails.

It is to be understood that instead of this relocation, if company and factory owners provide their employees with comfortable shift duties, excluding the peak hours of travel, the issue of traffic can be mitigated to a great extent. Similarly, if priority is given to the selection of employees from the proximity of the firm, the second issue can be addressed effectively. In case of hiring employees from distant places, they can be accommodated in buildings which are within the company premises.

However, I have to admit that this move will be definitely a success when almost all the privileges of cities including information technology, education, health and recreation are provided in the areas to which the movement is done.

To conclude, it is clear that if companies, factories and their workforce are moved to the countryside without the required infrastructure for both the employees and their families, it would not be successful in solving the aforementioned issues.
