MODEL ANSWER>>>

It is an undeniable fact that advancements in technology pave the way to many environmental problems which the world faces today. When some believe simpler lives as a solution for this, others feel technology itself can solve these crises. Both these views are topical in nature, and hence a detailed discussion is needed before framing a logical conclusion.

On the one hand, the former group thinks that sacrificing comfort and convenience that the modern man enjoys can be seen as a potential solution for the environmental issues, which stem from unchecked technological progress. To be precise, they feel people should reduce the usage of resources and preserve it for the next generations, and by this way they can control a great deal of environmental damage including pollution. Secondly, newer trends like consumerism and materialism should be discouraged and the manufacturers should initiate production only as per the demand in the market. This keeps a stronger relationship between man and the nature.

On the other hand, the latter group highlights simpler and advanced ways to minimize the pollution during the production process and maximum recycling of non-biodegradable materials. They also believe that technology can make the maximum out of the minimum input, which can meet the needs of a wider range of population in future. For instance, the introduction of Genetically Modified crops and other advanced farming techniques has already reduced the need of vast agricultural land, manpower, machinery and resources. They also believe that technology can find a better alternative for conventional energy sources, the use of which is currently one of the key reasons of environmental pollution.

After analyzing both the views in detail, I have to believe in the power of technology which has already solved a range of environmental issues. Simultaneously, I would suggest a simpler life as this can make the situation better.
