You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.

You paid a refundable deposit when you rented an apartment a year ago. You left the apartment last month in good condition but the landlord did not return your deposit.

Write a letter to the landlord. In your letter,

  • introduce yourself and say why you are writing

 Dear Mrs. Susanne,

This letter is being written to warn you against the delay in making the amount which I deposited at the time of the agreement when I rented your apartment.

I am your ex-tenant at 304-B, The Palm Ville. I had been staying there for 11 months since last December. I had never made an arrear during my stay there. However, you have failed to refund the deposit I made to you at the time of agreement, which you promised me to make before I leave the place.

As per the agreement, I paid $3000 as deposit, which you promised that will be returned without depreciation, if no damage is made in the apartment. The rooms were left in a good condition, almost in the same condition you have rented me a year ago. Therefore, I have the right to demand the full amount I deposited.

Since you are aware that I do not have a regular earning, and I have to give a deposit to my new landlord in a month, I have no other way, but to initiate the legal proceedings if you delay it further.

I look forward to hearing a prompt and positive reply.

 Yours sincerely,

 Willams
