It is common to see that the human potentials are clearly dominated by machines, which is evidenced not only in the physical work, but also in the intellectual work. Though it seems to be more advantageous in the current situation, in the long run, the situation might reverse.

Turning to the positive side of this trend, in the current scenario, one can witness a faster pace of development, irrespective of the sectors. To be precise, compared to the past, machines not only have replaced a large amount of workforce, but also have saved a considerable proportion of time. This ranges from simple working situations like cooking and cleaning to the manufacturing of sophisticated equipment like radar and war-ships. Today’s machines are also programmed to work in extreme conditions, at a faster pace, which humans hardly can. These upgraded qualities are seen not only in the physically demanding works like construction, but also in the works which are intellectually demanding like space exploration.

By contrast, when this happens, the role of humans would gradually become insignificant, and eventually they would become slaves to machines. To be clearer, in many situations, man is becoming over-dependent on machines such as vehicles, computers and smartphones, and this would make man just a vegetative creature without much physical, intellectual, and emotional potential. For example, the physical stamina of an average person is seen declining substantially when compared to the past, and is expected to worsen further just because of the sedentary life-style which the machines have awarded him. Similarly, machines are expected to arrest a human’s intellectual and emotional capacities too.

To conclude, when machines are able to do more work compared to humans, it is definitely more advantageous in the present situation. However, in future, the trend is projected to be detrimental.
