There is no doubt that being a famous movie star or a professional athlete makes a person popular as well as glamourous. However, as a coin has two sides, this profession has a dark side almost as same as its positive side.

Analysing the positive side of being a celebrity, the first thing which comes to an individual’s mind is fame. When a person is raised to the position of stardom, he is made recognised by the public by the media. Media often portrays the best pictures and videos of famous celebrities, which sows the seeds of admiration among the people, eventually creating a huge fan base. The second thing which comes along with fame is exorbitant money. This is not only confined to their career, but also from other sources like advertisements. Ronaldo, Messi, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Justin Bieber are some names which needs no introduction.

Turning to the dark side, the first is the issue of privacy. To be clearer, an established celebrity is the best prey for a paparazzi. Such a celebrity would loss his personal life, lack his anonymity and feel that he is being watched constantly. The second issue is to maintain the celebrity status intact. To be precise, these famous personalities are so called ‘social icons’ with a perfect image. Therefore, they are bound to be socially responsible for every act they do and this puts immense pressure on these stars. Mike Tyson and Late Bruce Lee are among a few who had undergone this stage.

To conclude, it is a dream for many to become a celebrity aspiring abundant benefits. However, I think it also has some serious disadvantages.
