Aug 26, 2022 / General / 5:26 pm

You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.

Mrs Barrett, an English-speaking woman who lives in your town, has advertised for someone to help her in her home for a few hours a day next summer. Write a letter to Mrs Barrett. In your letter:

  • suggest how you could help her in her home
  • say why you would like to do this work
  • explain when you will and will not be available

 Write at least 150 words.

You do not need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Mrs Barrett,

CAMBRIDGE 16 GENERAL TRAINING TEST: 1

 Dear Mrs Barrett,

I am writing in response to your advert regarding a part-time home assistance during the day the coming summer.

I am a third year under-graduate student in House Keeping Science in the town, I live just a km proximal to your accommodation. As a part of my studies, almost all household jobs are undertaken by us and hence it would not be a problem in assisting you during the day, including washing clothes, dishes, cleaning the rooms and cooking.

The first reason why I am interested in taking up the job is to assist myself in my studies. Another reason is that it would be a valuable experience for me to work in a real work environment.

I will be having my vacation during next summer, and I will be available from 10 am to 3 pm all through the weekdays. I can also work on Saturdays and Sundays, but only after 12 pm. Please note, I am available on phone every day after 5 pm.

I look forward for a favorable reply.

 Yours sincerely,

 Benita
