MODEL ANSWER:

Many parents feel that computer games have no significant role in education, and would cause deleterious effects on children, despite its massive acceptance among all ages and nationalities. Even though there is a greater truth in this, I cannot completely agree to it.

The fundamental reason behind this view of parents is because of the fact that many computer games kill a considerable proportion of children’s valuable time. To be precise, modern computer games have features like virtual reality and group gaming. This makes children passively involved in them, and soon or later, a sense of addiction develops, when they spend hours and hours in playing these games.

Another reason behind their criticism is the inappropriate themes of computer games. To be clearer, computer games which have racing or violence as their themes are far more popular than games like puzzles. Naturally, this would encourage children towards such activities in real life rather than focusing on their academics. Physical problems like obesity and visual problems are also seen among those children who spend too much time in playing these games.

I admit that there are good computer games which can enhance the intellectual abilities of children. Word games, Sudoku and chess are some among those. However, the rating of these games is far lower when compared to games like Pubg.

To conclude, though there are some games which boost the intellectual and cognitive capacities of a child, as parents believe, most of the popular games are either time-wasting or inappropriate.
