The pressing demand for gas and oil has made the exploration newer sources of energy in untouched and remote areas of the world inevitable. I believe such activities have more merits than demerits, and are pivotal for the human existence.

The most tangible advantage of such explorations is the economic growth: to the people, to the nation and to the world. To be precise, such activities are projected to create more job opportunities to people by strengthening the sectors like health, education, transport and communication. Similarly, the nation is expected to increase its productivity and is predicted to gain more revenue. When each country develops, the global market would see a boom and the global standards of living would rise. The second advantage this would bring about is the increasing likeliness of newer innovations which are beneficial for the human race. People are really longing for inventions which solve their problems and can increase their comfort, and this is possible only when such explorations are left unhindered.

It is to be noted that when untouched areas of the earth are excavated in search of energy resources, the biggest concern is the ecological balance. Some of such adverse effects include the irreversible degradation of vast areas of land, destruction of natural habitat and pollution: the worst among these.

To conclude, though there are some concerns, especially related to environment, one needs to absorb the fact that if exploration of such areas for energy is hindered, that would question the mean existence of human beings on the earth.
