Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? “When people succeed, it is entirely because of hard work. Luck has nothing to do with their success.” Use specific reasons and examples to explain your position.

It is opined that success is determined solely by hard work, and luck has hardly any significance in it. I agree to the statement to a great extent,however I believe luck is also a success-determining factor in rare occasions.

As hard work and success are directly proportional, in most occasions, success cannot be embraced if there is little hard work. For example, a poor performer in the class is most likely to fail in his exams. Similarly, an employee who has not a productive approach towards his work is most likely to stay in the same position or likely to be sacked. The same can be seen in the field of business, where many non-innovative companies are thrown out of the competition.

In addition, if people work hard amidst of their difficulties, their success rate is most likely to be high. The growth of Kentucky Fried Chicken, from a local brand in Corbin to an international brand could be seen as a pertinent example for this. Many eminent personalities like Abraham Lincoln once lived in severe inadequencies like lack of proper food and education.In case of the established, hardwork aids them to become more successful. 

However, the role of luck in making a person successful cannot be totally neglected as there are occasions when luck, in the form of getting unexpected opportunities or winning lotteries, has brought good fortunes to people. Yet, I feel one cannot rely only on luck.

To conclude, though luck is also a factor of success in certain situations, I feel that in most occasions success can be guaranteed with hard work.
