Poverty is one of the major social issues in almost every part of the world, even in some developed countries. I think it is mainly due to two specific reasons, and solutions for this appear to be practical in most cases.
The primary reason behind poverty is that today’s people are more concentrated on commercial and industrial activities than agrarian activities. In the past, people used to cultivate a variety of crops, and many countries were known for their own indigenous produces. However, now, some of these countries are seen importing these. The second pressing reason I find is the ineffective governmental policies. Many governments ignored farmers and encouraged corporates. They also failed to create more job opportunities for their citizens. Corruptions and nepotism worsened the situation.
Helping the poor is not an area which needs much research. Both governments and charity organizations are seen as the forefront fighters in dealing the poor. Financial aids are the popular method. Monthly pensions are availed to the underprivileged, and i admit it helps a huge number of people. Charity organizations are seen providing the poor with food and necessary household equipment. This is also socially acceptable. However, I think we should have a more effective option in dealing with this crisis. This is because of the fact that poverty is created in almost every situation. Therefore, every government should adopt measures to wipe out the presence of the poor in the society.
To conclude, poverty is a burning social issue which arises from a number of factors, which differs from country to country. Though a number of options are available in helping the poor, I think not many have adopted the best option.
