It is a fact that every year a huge amount of money is been poured into charity and charitable organisations. I cannot agree to the point that a specific amount should be donated by everyone to support these activities because the decision is totally subjective.

The first reason why I oppose this argument is because charity organisations is receiving an exorbitant amount of money from multinational companies and billionaires. According to the Chronicle of Philanthropy, from the USA itself the amount dedicated to charity was $28 billion in 2021. There are a lot more voluntary organisations worldwide to contribute double or more than double this amount every year. In such a situation, such an implication is unnecessary.

The second reason why I object to the point is because of the imbalance between the earnings and expenses of modern employees. In this modern economic scenario, most employees struggle to manage their day to day expenses. For example, the tax is high, educational and medical expenses are soaring, and even the food prices are hiking on a daily basis. Therefore, it should be left to the individual’s choice whether or not to donate to charity.

The final reason why I argue that this is less practical is because of the poor performance of charity organisations. To explain it further, being the fact that the primary aim of such organisations is to support the poor and needy, poverty and poor living conditions are still visible across the world. Instead of donating to charity, individuals or communities can voluntarily support the needy around them and make this objective more meaningful.

To conclude, though charity is humane and a kind act which can help a lot who suffer, it should be done willingly by individuals or organisations and not by compulsion.
