FORMAL LETTER: INSURANCE CLAIM

Jul 04, 2019 / General / 5:54 pm

You should spend around 20 minutes on this task.
On a recent holiday, you lost a valuable item. Fortunately you have travel insurance to cover the cost of anything lost. Write a letter to the manager of the company
– describe the item lost
– explain how you lost it
– tell the insurance company what you would like them to do

You do NOT need to write any addresses.
Begin your letter as follows:
Dear Sir or Madam,
Write at least 150 words.

MODEL ANSWER:
Dear Sir,
I am writing this letter in relation to insurance on a baggage which I lost during my holiday trip to Europe.

Last month, I went for a holiday with my family to Europe, which lasted for 12 days. As scheduled, we started our tour from Paris, and after visiting Milan and Rome, we reached our final destination, England. It was from here, I lost my baggage which contained some valuable gadgets. It was a brown rectangular leather bag, in which I kept my brand new Canon EOS-1D X Mark II DSLR camera worth $5400. It also consisted of a smart watch, which I bought for my nephew from Paris. As you are aware, it was with your company, I insured my travel and I had already informed your staff who made a preliminary inquiry on the matter that it was lost when you transported our luggage from our last accommodation to the Heathrow airport. I would like you to initiate the process of insurance claim for lost baggage as early as possible. All the necessary documents are attached here with.

I await your prompt response.

Yours faithfully,
