Fresh water has always been a limited resource in some parts of the world. Today, however, growing worldwide demand has made this a global problem. What are the causes of the increased demand and what measure could governments and individuals take to respond to this problem?

The world with an ever-increasing population is facing numerous crises, and of those, one of the burning issues is the increasing demand of fresh water. Though there are multiple causes for this, the primary cause of this issue is attributed to human activities, and the problem can be addressed only when the governments and their citizens act wisely.

The cardinal reason why this is happening is because in many parts of the world, fresh water, one of the most demanded resources, is used irrationally. To be precise, people waste this precious resource by using it for other purposes other than intended demands. For instance, in some arid areas, people struggle to enough fetch fresh water, whereas in some other areas, it is used abundantly for both industrial and domestic purposes.

Another reason can be also attributed to human activities, like deforestation and industrialization. The worst consequence of this is global warming, and this result in climate change. As a result, some areas would not receive enough rainfall, while some areas would be suffering flash floods. There are instances of water shortage due to certain kinds of natural phenomenon too.

Mitigating this issue is easily practical. From the part of the individuals, the best effort is that they can use the resource more logically. A better role is there for the governments, such as rain water harvesting. The introduction of water recycling plants in every small town can also be a productive idea. Both governments and individuals should join hands to make the earth greener, and this is a long-term solution.

To conclude, it is clear that the problems related to global fresh water shortage can be attributed to human activities, and the solutions can also be made practical by them: both from the individual and governmental approaches.
