It is argued that people should be made responsible by their respective governments in maintaining their local environment clean and tidy. I agree to this view point wholeheartedly.

First and foremost reason for my agreement is because of the existence of numerous non-governmental initiatives to protect the environment, which are not making the desired impact. To be precise, several attempts were made by the local residents and communities to preserve their own environment foreseeing potential dangers such as over-exploitation of resources, pollution and other adversities. The initiative of plastic segregation and recycling by various residential associations, which were found to be inactive, can be seen as a pertinent example for this.

The second reason, why I support the view is because of the effectiveness of governmental intervention in environmental protection. To be clearer, no organization is found to be as effective as the state in solving environmental issues. This is because most governments have the potential to frame legislations and execute those systematically within a stipulated timeframe. For instance, a government has no major difficulty in framing environmental laws, publicizing those and penalising those who do not align with those.

Provided that governments are not taking responsibility to tackle burning issues such as global warming and climate change, which are the results of inappropriate environmental protection, imminent catastrophe is awaiting the human race. Torrential rains ,extensive wild fires ,floods and faster desertification are some of such adversities .

To conclude, owing to the imminent necessity of nature protection, I feel it is best for governments to be responsible in making people looking after their own local environment with their systematic educational and legal approaches.
