In some countries children like to play by their own inside their houses rather than playing outside. Why is this? How can we encourage children to play outdoors?

REPORTED ON 26 FEBRUARY, 2022 GENERAL TRAINING MODULE WRITING

In the modern era, children are hardly seen interested in playing in a natural environment. The core reason why this might have occurred is due to the transformed life-style of modern generation. Even though this scenario is difficult to get reversed, productive measures do exist.

The cardinal reason why today’s children are confined to the four walls of their room is because they have more interesting activities inside.  To be precise, the unparalleled growth of technology has provided them provisions to play on smartphones and gadgets which support virtual reality games. When these curiosity-evoking games and activities are availed to them inside their own homes, it is quite natural that they would not go out to play.

Another reason is because of the way which they are brought up. In the past, the population was thin, and children had enough safe places to play freely. However, today, children lack such places, and on top of that parents do not want their children to encounter risks. People also have become narrow-minded, and they hardly encourage their children to socialise with the people around.

As today’s young generation has got adjusted to the existing scenario, and they do not want to change, a solution for this is difficult to be sorted out. Nevertheless, schools can play a crucial role by making outdoor physical activities as a part of their curriculum. I initiatives can also be put forward to encourage them to get involved in competitions which are conducted outside by means of some lucrative prizes for the winners.

To conclude, it is clear that the primary reason why the young people prefer to be inside is the changed lifestyle. It appears to be a herculean task to encourage them to play outside, and if initiatives are taken, the result would be productive.
