In the future all cars ,buses and trucks will be driverless. The only people travelling inside these vehicles will be passengers . Do you think the advantages of driverless vehicle outweigh the disadvantages?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own experience or knowledge. Write at least 250 words.

It is predicted that vehicles of future would go driverless, and would have only passengers. This reform, if it happens, is expected to bring greater benefits. However, one should not forget to see its dark side.

One of the tangible advantages is that it can reduce the number of accidents and fatalities caused by human drivers. Today, we can see a number of road transport accidents, which occur due to reckless driving, sleep while driving, and driving under the influence of alcohol. All this blame goes to human drivers, and this can be overcome to a great extent when we exclude them from driving. Another advantage is that all the updated traffic rules can be easily transferred to the control unit of the vehicle, and this would save the valuable time, which is now being wasted for teaching drivers. Every government is spending a huge sum of money at present for driver education, and motor vehicle law enforcement. When automation becomes a reality in the field of transportation, we can not only ensure road safety, but also can save valuable time and money.

Nevertheless, this predicted change would have some repercussions. The first among these is the job cuts. It is a fact that a number of people across the world serve their societies as drivers. When mechanization happens in the field of driving, a sizeable proportion of people would turn jobless. The performance of an automated vehicle is also a question in case a passenger faces a medical emergency, while travelling.

To conclude, though driverless vehicles might create some economic challenges and some minor confusion, owing to its greater number of advantages, focusing mainly on road safety, it becomes the necessity of future.
