There is no doubt that the world is becoming more competitive, and this compels employees to acquire diverse skills including social skills and good qualifications. I believe, to embrace success, an ideal worker should have both.

In most people’s perspective, a good qualification is quintessential to walk smooth on the path of a successful working life. To make it clearer, in the past, even if an individual was less-qualified, he could survive with a handsome income. However, the field of education had broadened abruptly in the last century, and several new specializations came into existence. Now, the number of qualified candidates is much higher than in the past, and it has become essential for every job-aspirants to have a very good qualification. A recent United Nations employment survey reveals that 99% of today’s employers primarily consider only well-qualified candidates for their posts.

Having discussed the need for good qualification, one has to understand that just with this, one can hardly survive in a successful work environment. Good communication, at various levels can be definitely seen equally as important as a good qualification. To be precise, in most companies, an employee has to socialise with his higher level staff, his colleagues and in some cases with people from outside the company. For example, it would be disaster if a customer service executive has hesitation in opening a conversation towards his customer. Similarly, if an employee has poor horizontal or vertical communication skills, it would definitely a setback for him as well as his company.

To conclude, it is clear that in this world od cut-throat competition, good qualification and good social skills are equally important for every worker to survive in a successful work environment.
