Unlike the past, the number of people who suffer problems of being alone is increasing, as this is more common among the elderly. This might occur due to an array of problems, some of which are discussed in this essay along with two feasible solutions.

When analysed the issue of loneliness critically, one can understand that it naturally occurs in specific situations. For example, in case of a child left alone at home when both parents go to work, in case of a husband or a wife when one of them work in a distant place, and more often among elderly when they hardly find anyone around to socialize with. Another factor which triggers it is the changing lifestyle of people. When compared to the past, modern people prefer to be in smaller families, where the aforementioned situation is artificially created. Lastly, people are less emotional these days, and this restricts free socialization. Believe it or not, it happens in one’s family too, especially in case of maintaining proper communication with the elderly.

Turning to the solutions, the first is the acknowledgement of social needs to those who are affected with this issue. This can be done either physically by arranging social get-together programs, or on virtual social media platforms. Another solution which seems to be feasible is enhancing the time of communication between the close ones. For example, even when the elderly are left at home most of the time, if they get some quality time to be with their children or close acquaintances, it will definitely be a solution for the crisis.

To conclude, it is clear that the major reasons for the solitary feeling of people, especially the elderly stem from both personal and circumstantial factors. The provision of better communication facilities is the best solution for this.
