Music is perceived differently by people who have different interests. While some feel that it is just an entertainment form, others feel it has more meaning in the life of humans. I would accord to the second view.
The only reason behind the former group’s argument is because of the fact that music is universally accepted as a form of entertainment and people prefer to listen to it on the basis of their individual interests. For example, people are seen listening to both live concerts, or to recorded ones. The only reason why they go for the first is for entertainment and it appears to be the same reason why people listen to recorded music. Even if the listener does not understand the meaning of a particular song because it is in different language, it makes him entertained.
On the other hand, the latter group views music as something more related to human emotions rather than just an entertainment form. They point at instances when people listen to music to relax their minds. It can be also seen that people sing their national anthems to show their patriotism towards their country. The uncountable numbers of romantic songs is another example how music is related to delicate emotions. The final example is its use in the medicine as a therapy.
In my opinion, music has multi-facet benefits to humans and plays a very crucial role in the emotional, intellectual, spiritual and physical well-being of a person.
To conclude, though many like to perceive music as just a form of entertainment, the fact is entirely different.
