Arguments exist whether gender plays a crucial role in good parenting. While some say women are better parents than men, others feel that gender does not matter in childcare. I believe, even in this gender neutral society, the role of fathers in bringing up children is still far behind mothers.

On the one hand, some feel that men have the same ability in upbringing their children, when compared to women. They point at families in which women working and men caring their children. Here, most time a child spends is with his father rather than with his mother. In most cases, children grow up as expected and in the same way if they were taken care by their mother. In some other families, where both parents work, the role of caring the child is divided between them. Here too, both genders are performing their own responsibilities in the best way. Therefore, it can be assumed that there is no gender supremacy in childcare.

On the other hand, majority of the society believe that the position of women in childcare is far superior to the men. This is because of the stronger physical and emotional attachment a mother has towards her child than a father has. It is common to see that children showing their intimacy and love openly towards their mother than their father. Compared to men, women can understand their children’s behaviour and mood better. They also have more patience, tolerance level, which underlines they are better carers and their roles cannot be easily substituted.

In conclusion, although in certain circumstances, men can act as good as women in childcare, I believe the innate ability of a mother to care her child make her parenting role exceptional and much better than a father.
