There is an increasing concern of safety for a sizeable proportion of people across the world, irrespective of the place: whether at home or outside. There are two major reasons behind this situation, which can be solved effectively by the authorities in co-ordination with the public.

The first tangible reason behind the scenario is due to the belief that there are abundant circumstances for anti-socials to pursue their actions. To be precise, in the past, the population in the society was scarce, and there was an increased level of co-operation between them. As years passed, people started isolating themselves in their own personal spaces, without finding time to interact each other, even with their immediate neighbours. Criminals, at the same time, started using sophisticated technology in carrying out their actions.

Apart from the aforementioned reason why people think they are not safe, many feel that the existing laws are lax, and this creates a platform for criminals to re-offend. There are instances when people hesitate to give complaints for petty crimes, feeling that the offender might strike more vigorously some time later.

In order to address the problem in the most appropriate manner, the authorities have to make amendments to the laws, and these laws should be stringent enough, so that it should minimize re-offending. Another idea is to make the law enforcement more effective and popular, with the co-operation of the local residents like night vigil groups, and installation of surveillance cameras. Individuals also can be safe by being more vigilant like increasing their security on online platforms.

To conclude, it is clear that many feel they are not secure enough at their respective spaces. The blame should go to the situations and lapse in the legal enforcements, which can be effectively resolved by the respective authorities in coordination with the individuals.
