Unlike the past, today’s people are seen sparing much less time for leisure activities and are seen engaged more time at work. Though many think it has more disadvantages, I feel the opposite in the current scenario.

To begin, human needs and desires are soaring and so do their necessity of money at present. The best available solution to face this challenging situation is to work hard; minimising varying modes of relaxation and entertainment. Hence, today’s workforce accept the norm: ‘more work means more money’. In other words, people understand the fact that they are most likely to lose money as they spend more leisure time, and instead if they work long hours, it helps them to save more money.

The next major positive area is the provision of career expansion. Most young employees perceive the fact that hard work is the cornerstone for them to have an established career, and as they reap exceptional benefits, they would try to go another mile ahead. For example, many hardworking employees are seen promoted to higher band levels in their profession, while those who are satisfied with the existing situations would remain longer in their positions. Finally, those countries where this happens, economic stagnation is rarely seen. Japan, Korea and China are pertinent examples for this.

Nevertheless, when the leisure time is set to the minimum, many might feel their life monotonous and less colourful. This would adversely affect their physiological health, mood and behaviour. However, I feel today’s employees can tackle such problems effectively by balancing their work and life at varying proportions.

In conclusion, in a situation when money rules the world, I feel long working hours help people save it and make their career secure if they work more. At the same time, it should not be crossing the limits as it can affect their mental and physical wellbeing.
