More and more money is being allocated to the defence sectors when there exists a considerable proportion of underprevileged people . Do you justify this ? Give reasons for your answer, and include ideas and examples from your own knowledge and experience.

MODEL ANSWER:

It is hard for many to justify the rolling in of money in the sector of defence when their respective governments fail to satisfy the needs of a significant proportion of their citizens. However,I tend to justify this due to two specific reasons.

The prime reason for my justification is that a country should seriously consider a peaceful and secure place for it’s citizens. This is possible only when the respective governments have a strong and stable defence system. And for this, an exorbitant sum of money is needed.A government can find the financial resources for the same only from it’s annual budget and it is quite natural to compromise the fund allocation to other vital sectors such as health ,education and transportation.

Another reason why I think like this is that,it is the responsibility of each government to upgrade it’s military might, both manually and technologically, in order to make itself competent with the contemporary world .Provided that it fails to do so,it is vulnerable to be attacked both inside and outside the country. Therefore, in order to defend it’s citizens from any sorts of attacks and for assisting them at times of unforeseen disasters such as floods and earthquakes, the share of allocated money should be higher than many other sectors.

However,it’s hard for many to digest the situation and this is because they find deficit fund allocation to much needed sectors such as foodsecurity, health and education. I need to admit that these are cardinal sectors to be dealt with for the upliftment of the society .Yet ,I feel a weak defence will reflect a vulnerable population from the verge of extinction’.

To conclude, when the socio-economic conditions and the security of a country are gauged together, it seems to me the latter is more crucial, and so it should be addressed first.
